Best Time to Visit {{Fill in the Blank}}

One thing that always frustrates me when fantasizing about a trip is stressing over what season is best. Well guess what? I’ve done the heavy lifting for you! Here are the best times and seasons to visit almost everywhere.


Best time to visit Paris: For lower travel rates and significantly shorter lines at attractions, plan a visit in the fall.

Best time to visit Rome/Italy: From October to April, most of the tourist crowds have dissipated and room rates are lower. Although you’ll need a warm coat, weather this time of year hardly ever dips below freezing.

Best time to visit London/UK: September to November.

Best time to visit Spain: The best weather happens in April, May, June, September, and October.

Best time to visit Prague: Spring and early fall when the weather is mild and there are fewer crowds

Best time to visit Vienna: April-May or September-October

Best time to visit Budapest: March through May and September through November. That’s when the weather is idyllic and the city isn’t overcrowded with tourists.

Best time to visit Copenhagen: Spring or summer – depending on what you’re looking for. While the summer brings the warmest weather and a number of popular, large-scale events, those looking for lower rates and fewer crowds can still enjoy the mild weather in the spring.

Best time to visit Stockholm: Summer – albeit it’s the city’s priciest season, but you are guaranteed good weather.

Best time to visit Germany: From May to September you can expect warm days with the possibility of an occasional rain storm

Best time to visit Amsterdam: April and May or September and November – right before or directly after the summertime high tourist season.

Best time to visit Greece: Spring and early summer (mid-Apr to mid-June) or autumn (Sept to mid-Oct). This way, you’ll avoid the summer high season, with its inflated prices, hordes of tourists and high temperatures.

Best time to visit Istanbul: Spring and autumn, from April to May and from September to mid November respectively, are the ideal times to visit Istanbul and the inland regions when temperatures are pleasant and the skies are clear


Best time to visit Egypt: September through April

Best time to visit Algeria: mid-December through March.

Best time to visit Kenya: January-February (when there are higher concentrations of animals congregating in popular tourist destinations), June, September, or October (when waterholes and river banks are teeming with animals). Prices skyrocket in July and August.

Best time to visit Zimbabwe: May to October, when animals congregate around the rivers and waterholes.

Best time to visit Senegal: Senegal is at its best weather between the months of November to March every year

Best time to visit Botswana: The best time to visit is from May to September, during the dry season and winter with more moderate temperatures

Best time to visit Morocco: mid-March to May or September to October.

Best time to visit Namibia: Wildlife viewing in all parks is best in the Dry season from June to October.

Best time to visit South Africa: May to September. This is the Dry season and animals congregate around waterholes and rivers. (Pro tip: This is, in fact, the low season for tourism in South Africa!)

Best time to visit Ghana: July to August and November to March (Ghana’s Dry season)


Best time to visit Beijing: March to May and from September to October

Best time to visit Singapore: Any time! The island nation experiences a warm, tropical climate year-round with daily highs in the 80s.

Best time to visit Hong Kong: October and December. More comfortable temperatures and reasonable room rates.

Best time to visit India: October to March to avoid summer, winter and monsoon season.

Best time to visit Bangkok: May to October are the low season here, but be prepared for frequent bouts of rain.

Best time to visit Tokyo: September and November (or any time other than summer).

Best time to visit Seoul: March to May and from September to November, when the weather is mild (average daily high temperatures stay below the mid-70s) and travel expenses are low.

Best time to visit Vietnam: Spring (February to April). Autumn can be nice, too, but typhoon season runs from August through November.

Best time to visit Cambodia: Dodge the crowds and go when prices are lower from May to early October. The weather is relatively warm and consistent.

Best time to visit Taiwan: April. Better chances for clearer skies, less humidity and pleasant temperatures.

South America

Best time to visit Uruguay: October through March, when the sun shines and temperatures are mild. Argentinian tourists flood the beaches in the summer time.

Best time to visit Colombia: Mid-January to April (just as long as you avoid Holy Week)

Best time to visit Peru: May to November, but book early since this is their high-season

Best time to visit Chile: November to early March but you will have heavy crowds

Best time to visit Brazil: September or October to avoid the crowds but still get good weather.

Best time to visit Ecuador: The weather is almost always pleasant, so avoid the crowds and go any time other than summer and around Christmas.

Best time to visit Buenos Aires: April-June (fall) or from September-December (spring) for mild temperatures, thin crowds, and colorful foliage.

Best time to visit Bolivia: May-Oct is the best for drier weather

North America

Best time to visit New York City: April to June and September to early November when the weather is mild and pleasant but the tourist crowds are not overwhelming.

Best time to visit Los Angeles: Avoid crowds (although you’ll always deal with LA traffic) and go in either Spring, between March and May, or fall, between September and November.

Best time to visit Washington D.C.: September to November and March to May. Avoid the sweltering humid summers.

Best time to visit Las Vegas: March to May and from September to November. You’ll find plenty of travel deals throughout the year, but the spring and fall offer the most moderate weather.

Best time to visit New Orleans: February to May when the weather is comfortably cool and the celebrations are in full swing. Or if you’re not in to the Mardi Gras mania, plan to visit in December or January, when the city is calm and you don’t have to worry about making hotel reservations a year in advance.

Best time to visit San Diego: Literally any time, but hotel rates seem to drop a bit in October and November.

Best time to visit Chicago: April, May, September or October. Better weather and fun festivals.

Best time to visit Seattle: May, June, September, and October usually have nice weather and fewer tourists making them great months to visit if you’re not after hot summer weather.

Best time to visit Hawaii: Whenever you’re sick of your own weather! It’s almost always pleasant (and potentially rainy).

Best time to visit Florida: November through May because of lower chances of rain and of course comfortable temperatures for standing in line for rides.

Best time to visit Boston: June to October. Especially for baseball season!

Best time to visit Toronto: April, May, September or October. Avoid the peak summer season.

Best time to visit Quebec: There are fewer festivals and events during the spring and fall. The weather is chilly but pleasant, there are far fewer crowds and room rates drop.

Best time to visit British Columbia: There are fewer festivals and events during the spring and fall: this means that, although the weather is chilly but pleasant, there are far fewer crowds and room rates drop.

Other places

Best time to visit Tahiti: May – October. Tahiti’s winter season. Less rain and more manageable, but muggy temperatures.

Best time to visit Bora Bora: November and April. High season in Bora Bora runs from May to October when there are fewer rain storms and tourists swarm like bees.

Best time to visit Sydney: September through November and from March to May to avoid the high and low seasons for tourists.

Best time to visit New Zealand: February through April (Autumn in the southern hemisphere). The temperatures are pleasant (still hot in Feb in most parts), and even in April you’ll be wearing summer clothes if you stay to the north.

Best time to visit Iceland: February to March, and September to October — to see the Northern Lights
